Without the Kismet community the little entrepreneurs we started out as would have concluded with that summer. Back before we knew what actual hard labor was, we would spend our days running around seeking new opportunities. For a five block town, the opportunities were endless. For the Whooley boys, Brett and TJ, it was meeting every ferry that pulled in with a wagon to help fellow neighbors and newcomers as well to their destination of choice. For the Whooley girls, Jordan and myself, it was setting up camp in front of the market selling our custom made bracelets and seashells. Resisting the urge to fill our bellies with delicious sweets, at the end of each week we'd pool our money to be put in the bank towards our very own beach house one day! A motive we continue to carry with us always.
It's a privilege to have grown up in an environment such as the one Kismet provides. You can always count on a smiling face being right around the corner and when we say, 'It's a beautiful day in Kismet,' we aren't kidding! The sun shines high throughout the day leaving a vast amount of daylight for activities.
You don't have to grow up on Fire Island to appreciate the peace of mind you leave with. This skinny sand filled sliver of an island is often referred to as paradise and with one visit you can find true yourself.
Thanks to Brett's inability to sit still long enough to even be considered a state of relaxation we discovered our next task. The idea of Fire Island Water Sports started out real small and has blossomed into something bigger than we imagined it could! Starting out with three paddle boards and dinky tripod wheels to roll them on, the business has expanded to a trike and tailer that helps transport nine paddle boards, three kayaks, three surfboards, ten boogie boards, handful of beach chairs, eight kan jams, two spikeball sets, and even more coming in the future. With our assistance it shouldn't be hard to find the right activity for you.
Come join us this summer and create memories you won't forget!
